Paris’ Main Street is about to get a new addition to its array of shops. Local Margaret Colbert has decided to lease the unit which previously housed “Cox’s Barber Shop” and turn it into “Memories by Margaret,” a new photography studio.
Colbert has been doing freelance work for about a year or so, but decided opening a studio was the next move in her photography endeavors.
Part of Colbert’s passion for photography stems from her love of giving back to the people of the community. She has also donated her time taking pictures for cancer survivors in the area. “I want to bring out their inner beauty,” explained Colbert.
Her studio is a work in progress but plans to, with the help of the building owner, renovate the back rooms of the building to create multi-room photography areas enhanced by the unique charm of the building, including sections of exposed brick and an old staircase banister that leads to the second floor.
If unsure of what outfit to wear for a photography session, she has quite of few costumes to choose from including a selection of baby clothes and gowns. She is also hoping to eventually take the old-time sepia photographs, complete with saloon girl apparel.
She is excited to be a new business owner, and hopes her photography studio will attract the interest of the community. For any questions or interest in booking a session, you can contact Colbert at 660-833-6923.
